When Entering Lucky Draws… You Need To Get Smart.

So you might have seen this if you’ve visited Lido in the last two months. Basically every two tickets you buy lets you fill up this form to win a Toyota car. Over dinner (at Hanabi, more on that soon) I was talking about it and Rubin announced “Forget about it! I’m going to win the car!”.

So after the movie, I grabbed one of the draw forms and filled it up. The conversation then went like this:

Rubin: How come you can just take the form?

Me: Er. Why not?

Rubin: Then how do they know you bought two tickets?

Me: Uhm… You staple them to the form?

Rubin: WHAT? Where did they say that?

Me: *shows him the text that says “All sections must be completed with a pair of Shaw movie ticket stubs”*

Rubin: I’ve made a huge mistake.

Me: So what’s that about you winning the car again?

All this while Reuben laughs hysterically in the background.

I suppose this is what happens when you cut corners on your haircut and tell the barber not to cut some parts of your hair to save a couple of bucks.

Incidentally, Get Smart if one of the best movies I’ve watched this year. Seriously. Watch it. Even Rubin, who was reluctant to watch it at first, said it was good.
Also, how smart is Shaw to do this? They’ve just milked the hundreds of thousands of people who joined the competition to add to their marketing database. Best part? No one will give wrong data because they want to be contacted if they win the car! Smart marketing. I mean sure, you can have my phone number if it means I can win a car, right?
