Music Mondays XIV: Flight Of The Conchords

Flight of the Conchords

Flight of the Conchords

Su Min of Text 100 send me a copy of the Flight of the Conchords (FotC) CD on behalf of HBO Asia. I wasn’t sure what I would think of the CD, because although I’ve heard of FotC, I didn’t have a clue what their music was about.

After getting back home from Canada and settling back into Singaporean life, I put the CD into my sound system, and found it to be on loop for most of the weekend. Why? Without a doubt this is one of the most innovative and hilarious music CDs that I have listened to in the last year or so (and I don’t mean 2009).

Why innovative? Who would think of inserting a binary rap in a song about robots killing humans? Or David Bowie’s nipples serving as antanne? The incredible tangents that the songs seemingly spin on are really cool and to have it incorporated musically is really amazing.

If you’re a fan of the Saturday Night Live parodies or want to hear something different from the mainstream, cookie-cutter music, I highly recommend giving FotC a try. Me, I can’t wait to be able to catch season one of the TV show on HBO!

For now, I’ll leave you with a few videos from my favourite songs off the album (which by the way have literally millions of views on YouTube). Enjoy!
