Music Mondays XXIII: The Script
I first heard (and saw) The Script during last year’s MTV Asia Awards with the song “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved“. Since then, their tracks “If You See Kay” and “Breakeven” have hit the airwaves, and this Irish band has definitely gained traction in the last eight months.
What I like about The Script is twofold: One, the sound of the band is distinct (largely due to the lead singer’s vocals) but yet their tracks don’t all sound the same, and two, the lyrics are actually pretty damn good, especially on tracks like “I’m Yours“, “Breakeven” and “Fall For Anything”
One thing interesting about The Script, is that they have their own YouTube channel called ScriptTube where they not only post their music videos, but also interviews with the band which are doing pretty well with over a hundred thousand views. I think that’s a really good way to connect with fans and it gives the fans a real reason to subscribe to the channel, because it gives more “intimate” information as compared to stuff you can just get anywhere else off the web. They’re also on Twitter as @thescript, with almost 5,000 followers, which is a pretty good base!
I’m gonna leave you with my current favourite track off the album called “I’m Yours” (no, it isn’t a cover of the Jason Mraz track). This video from YouTube has both the track and the lyrics. Enjoy:
