Music Mondays XXXVI: Shazam

There have been quite a few editions of Music Mondays where I hear the song once while I’m driving and really like it but have no way of knowing what song it is. Especially if the DJ doesn’t mention the title or the artist. This used to be a big problem, but not anymore.

Enter: Shazam

Shazam is a free app for the iPhone that identifies music wherever you are, as long as you have an internet connection. All you have to do is hold your iPhone up to the music source, be it in the car, at a coffee joint or a store you’re at and tadah (or should I say, Shazam!) and the song gets identified and now you know what that elusive song is. Pretty nifty, eh?

What other tips and tricks do you have for easy music identification?

  1. Shazam is awesome. We used it with the radio during road trips in Aust. But now I can’t add the app because it says Shazam is not available in Singapore, and the same with Pandora and Last.fm. How did you do itttt?

It really irks me you know, this available to some and unavailable to others thing. Just like some youtube videos! Like omg, if it’s gonna be on the internet then it’s for everyone okayyy.

  2. @Chloe: Oh that’s the web version! The identifier works just fine for the iPhone version. But yes I feels you! Something the stupid music industry has to wrap their heads around.
