Graphic Novel Haul (Part 1)

So Kinokuniya is having another 20% members-only sale, and that means money flies out of my wallet like there’s no tomorrow because I’ve stopped buying comics in single issue format, and buy the collected editions (graphic novels) instead. Here’s a quick overview of four of the nine graphic novels (GNs) I bought tonight:

Fallen Angel vol.5

Fallen Angel vol.5

Fallen Angel vol.4 and vol.5
Written by Peter David, I really loved this book when it was published by DC Comics. Then DC canceled it (boo!) and IDW picked it up but no one seemed to order the singles here in Singapore so I had to buy the trades. After recently finishing vol.1-3, I knew I had to get more. Peter David is one of those guys who can write a huge cast very well and it shows here. If you’re more a fan of straightforward superhero stuff his X-Factor is pretty good and Young Justice is one of my favourite series of all time.

She-Hulk vol.6 – Jaded
Coincidentally, vol.6 of She-Hulk is when Peter David took over a few years ago and I’m catching up with it now. It’s Peter David, so it’s gonna be awesome.

The Umbrella Academy: Dallas

The Umbrella Academy: Dallas

The Umbrella Academy: Dallas
Umbrella Academy was one of the surprise hits a few years back but the problem for me reading it in singles was there was too much to keep track of, so I knew I would get Dallas in trade form. Who knew Gerard Way (from My Chemical Romance) could write comics this well? And the art by Gabriel Ba is just fabulous.

I bought five other GNs which I think are pretty damn awesome, will try to write a little about them over the weekend.
